Oxford Street

Stretching out for a mile and a half, you can pretty much buy anything under the sun on Europe’s busiest shopping street. Big British shopping institutions like Primark, John Lewis and Selfridges stock most of it, while the smaller shops toward Tottenham Court Road can still turn up the odd gem if you keep your eyes peeled.

    The whole world is here.

The whole world is here. I love the busy nature of this street. If you are the type that travel with family, please make a budget first. After my first day with my family, many years when the children were young, I learnt through the hard way. Unlimited spending affected my budget. please don't carry the family to this street without budget.

Oxford Street doesn't have a great reputation among natives of London. However, in the 1980s I would go there to shop at Selfridges for clothes. That's a classy department store and worth a visit.

    Don't bother!

Don't bother! Over rated tourist trap full of brands you can find on your high street , tat shops and sweet emporia. A real drop in standards and choice from what the old shopping area used to be.

Some buildings are very nice in this buildings and are really good great historical value, some are hardly maintained or never maintained. The good thing is that there is variety of shops in this street for all budgets . They down side is it doesn’t feel safe, the road is relatively narrow ( British standard) and it’s over packed with tourists and obviously lots of mugging going on, I’ve heard of one when I was there for two hours only.

Great location with wonderful views of the bustling Soho from both windows. Carnaby street and Oxford street right around the corner. Some occasional noise from the street on the weekend which is expected - so if a light sleeper perhaps bring earplugs.

Stayed with my two children. We went to a show in London Palladium and was a great location for show and shopping on Oxford Street. Rooms were so big, beds so cosy, except the sofa bed that my daughter slept on, and the shower was just WOW so powerful absolutely loved it.. Staff were so friendly and whole hotel was spotless.

Great location at the heart of London, large and nice room, and very good breakfast! The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast had many choices, and the hotel was in a quiet area a few metres from Oxford Street in the area of Marble Arch.
