The Shacks are a 1970’s creation by the builders that built many of the first homes in Grasstree Beach. Although they retain the simple layout that many beach houses have from that era we have progressively made updates over the last 10 years to improve the facilities. Modern kitchens, bathrooms, improved deck areas to increase the space, wifi, aircon and fans are all part of the upgrades you can now enjoy. Personally these places remind me of my childhood days where bunk beds and packing everyone into the beach house are fond memories how we shared time with family and friends. We don’t pack the same numbers into the units we used to in my childhood but we do hope that our limits on numbers are practical. We know our places will always be sparkling clean, have a fantastic view and an opportunity for couples and families to enjoy the experience of being right beside one of the most beautiful beachside locations in Queensland. The seclusion, lack of traffic and shops is something that resonates with our guests and suits people that are trying to escape, unwind, slow down and just breathe.
The Shacks have been an absolute labour of love for myself. Bought around 2002 due to my love for this particular beach during my childhood. The obsession with having a beach house to enjoy down time is something that has now become the place our family makes lasting memories. We fish/spearfish the ocean and waterways around the area and enjoy mountain biking on the trails that exist near our home. We have been known to just sit on the deck and enjoy a sunrise or sunset with an appropriate drink. Although we rarely get the opportunity to do this anymore it is something we always wanted to share with families. Everyone grows up and life moves at a hectic pace but regardless where we end up being the great memories we create will rarely escape our minds. As such you can understand why this place has been such a love affair for me as it helped create so many of my most fond memories for myself and those I love and I hope it does for you also.
This is a low tempo beach and although there is often an influx of day trippers using the facilities and visiting the beach at night it could be described as utter tranquility as it transforms back to the locals only haunt. We would love you to be one of our locals for a few days or more.
