The evening meal, breakfast extremely good. Bedroom bathroom spacious, light and clean. Quiet room. Very happy with all. Staff friendly and professional. Not sure the bed or pillows were quite as comfortable as they might be, but it could be me being picky!

The moated palace of the Bishop of Bath and Wells has a wonderful atmosphere as does the market place although its sad to see so many vacant buildings, even there. I was too late for dinner at the Swan and went for a lovely wander in the dark and discovered a delightful looking bistro that is open until 10pm and which I shall pre-book for my next year when I make my annual vist to the nearby Bath & West Show.

Fabulous small city. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Fabulous small city. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Conservative club in the market square made us fresh sandwiches to takeaway even though take away wasn't on the menu. The city itself was very clean and well cared for. Independent shops a delight, market has an interesting mix of stalls. Well worth a visit you need more that an overnight visit to see it all. Even though the center is easy to walk around you need a whole day extra to visit the gardens and cathedral.

'England's smallest city' is worth the detour - and it is a detour. Set in lovely countryside, the unmissable sights are the beautiful Cathedral and historic Bishop's Palace in its wonderful gardens (worth getting a joint ticket for both). A great place for a weekend away, with a buzzing market on Saturday mornings and plenty of thriving independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Root on Sadler Street was especially good - mainly but not exclusively vegetarian and vegan, really inventive and fantastic quality ingredients and friendly service. There are plenty of friendly pubs serving great local beer and cider. Parking around the city centre takes luck or planning or both, but otherwise it's easy to walk everywhere.

Our trip was specifically to visit the rural levels and also to catch up on a friend in the area. We did not visit Wells on this occasion so can't comment specifically. However if you want to be well situated to explore the area Wookey Hole and its hotel is a good place to be. Locally there is the Ebor Gorge within walking distance and road access to most of the area is accessible although you must be happy driving on some narrow roads. Hotel is definitely not luxury but is clean and convenient with excellent staff. Good value for money if looking for convenience rather than luxury.

Good place to visit.
Good place to visit. Cathedral and Bishop's Palace are really lovely.
City centre has a lovely vibe and there are lots of shops and restaurants.
It's very handy for exploring the rest of the area and only a short drive from Cheddar Gorge.
We stayed 2 nights in early May. This is a lovely guesthouse in a historic building. Plenty of parking, a comfortable room, delicious breakfasts, and a perfect location for visiting Wells and Glastonbury. Louise & Steve were great hosts. We even had the opportunity to see how the mill works—thank you, Steve. And Louise, your homemade breads are wonderful! We enjoyed walking to the Ring O’ Bells for good food and drinks. The pub across the road was in the process of reopening so we didn’t have a chance to check it out.
We had a good experience from the outset, being warmly welcomed and able to check in to our room ahead of time. The hotel sent useful information on the various public parking options in Wells and so their not having guest parking of their own was not a problem. We had the superior double with lovely views overlooking the green and the Cathedral. The food in the Rugantino restaurant was excellent. The building is old and full of character - expect to hear other guests on the creaky stairs.
The most comfortable room I’ve ever stayed in. The staff is fantastic, the breakfast is delicious and the location is amazing. Wells, and the Swan hotel was my favorite part of my England trip. The only thing I caution you on is that the parking is very small, probably 20 or so cars and the entrance is EXTREMELY narrow. So take it slow and make sure you got the extra insurance on the rental car. Lol.
Also, the price I paid was absolutely insane with how cheap it is for what I got.
Sarah, hotel owner was fantastic, couldn't do enough for us. Even made her washing machine available to us.
Terrific room, tastefully decorated with extras. Great bathroom, clean and functional.
All staff in hotel were welcoming. Parking was an issue but made easy with staff assistance.
Easy walk up to market square and stunning Wells Cathedral
Everything you could think of was provided. It was a beautiful apartment right in the centre of Wells. It was spacious with lots of personal touches which made it very comfortable. My sister and I often stay at The Swan Hotel in Wells but this apartment will now be our first go to when booking further trips to Wells.
Right in the centre of Beautiful Wells. Nice mattress, room was well decorated, historic, huge and well appointed. Clean and lovely walk-in shower. Staff friendly and helpful. Great touch was a book in the room about the history of the pub as it has a long history including as the Town Jail.
Hosts Julie and David...welcoming, willing and fun to visit with. Their hospitality was the high point of our Wells/Glastonbury stop. Dinder is great location and situation for a stay in this somerset area. Cozy room, 5* bathroom, excellent breakfast...
This was our 3rd visit now at this hotel. I would definitely recommend. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant does some fantastic food. Right by the cathedral. There is a market here every Saturday which is grand.
Everything!!
Location, decor, quirky layout, staff….view is fabulous!!
the back has fabulous views of Wells Cathedral.
I booked this particular hotel for 2 reasons, the decor of the room & views…both certainly was worth it!
Lovely old pub/hotel, with freindly, staff, a great location in the town center and opposite the loveley cathedral, pretty and a smallest city, plenty to see too, and lots of places to eat,
This is a truly exceptional family run boutique hotel experience. Everything about Beryl is welcoming and unique. It was the perfect environment from which to explore Wells.
Good large room in a location handy for the centre of Wells. Table and chairs in room to make continental breakfast easy. Good view of Glastonbury Tor over neighboring houses.
Wells was a beautiful town and this hotel had the best location! We enjoyed to stay here a lot. The pub and restaurant was also good and breakfast was excellent.
