Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbour the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 en-suite bedrooms with all expected facilities.
If you are looking for luxury accommodation with great Highland Hospitality in Skye, then look no further than historic Skeabost House Hotel, a family owned boutique hotel, part of the Sonas Hotel...

Loved everything. Room was a good size, warm and homely. Ruth was lovely and had kept us informed of things, like where to park and places to eat etc. We left feeling like we had just stayed at a friend's or relatives house. It really was a fantastic place.

It was brilliant! The whole place is really beautiful with stunning views! The rooms are clean, cosy, and with soft pillows and beds. Every nook and cranny has a thoughtful touch. And the service was really good. Paul and Mairi were so accommodating and friendly. Our stay was definitely relaxing.

A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.

Things to see and do:
1. Plunge your face in the water under Sligachan Bridge for a faerie blessing.
2. Hike up to the old man of Storr.
3. Go to the top of the Bride Veil's Falls and drink a sip for good luck.
4. Visit Talisker (Book months in advance for a distillery tour), but the visitor shop is worthwhile regardless - you can engrave a bottle or draw your own bottle from a cask yourself without a tour.
We spent more time in the surrounding areas than the actual town itself, special sites and nature. The town itself is good for a night or two, but I'd focus my efforts on the landscape of Skye instead of the inside of the shops of Skye.
Be sure to factor in opening times for certain restaurants. Most places have a "no booking" policy, so you can expect to stand in line when wanting to eat out at the recommended places.
Spots to eat that we tried:
- The Lower Deck Seafood (Queue 30min before opening time) located on the harbour side.
- The Isles Inn (Walk-in 30min before you're hungry) with live music almost every night around 21:00ish.
Spots for great coffee:
Talisker - just outside they have Caora Dhubh Coffee Company. Worth the coffee itself if you're after the best cup of coffee in Skye.

Portree is lovely.
Portree is lovely. We visited in early may and the crowds were mostly manageable. I would be a little concerned in the heart of the season. My suggestion to the powers that be would be to consider shuttle busses to the popular sites from centralized collection points; discourage rental cars from driving to the sites independently in some way. The small roads and on-site car parks can become overly crowded. We couldn't get near Quiraing for the traffic on the winding one lane road. In all other respects, Skye and Portree are lovely and a pleasure to visit.

I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.
The property is located conveniently in the heart of Portree. We ate dinner at the restaurant the first night and it was amazing (I had the pork belly dish). On Tuesday evenings at 8:00 pm, the local bag pipers play outside the hotel - which adds to the charm of this hotel. Parking is a bit challenge (especially when carrying big bags) - the best place is behind the yellow painted hostel (about £4 for 24 hours). Our room was on the 3rd floor - which there is no lifts, so carrying those heavy bags to the room was a workout!
Location to the harbor. We were appreciative that the rooms had bathtubs and plenty of light. Many of the rooms we stayed in in Scotland were very dark. Because you have to use a hairdryer outside of the bathroom, when the rooms are dark you have little illumination for grooming. This hotel was nice and bright and we appreciated it.
Also, we are very glad they had a small car park for guest. Portree was crazy to drive through and parking was very challenging. Other than bars and restaurants, the town shuts down by 5 PM.
I loved everything about this house! It was the favorite place to stay during our stay in Scotland. It was very close to the town of Portree. Very close to the sights we wanted to see in Isle of Skye. The beds were comfy. The living area accommodated all five of us when we needed to relax from our hiking. The kitchen was perfect for us. We even walked the neighborhood and found the neighbors to be friendly to us. My husband said he was beyond pleased with this house.
Fantastic place to stay, the rooms where the best we stayed in during our stay in Skye/Scotland with plenty of facilities and a fridge which was great. Norah (and Mark) are lovely hosts and make you feel very welcome. Lovely little touches like freshly cooked pastries in the mornings made our 3 night stay very enjoyable and special. I would say Norah goes above and beyond what other guest houses offer so we would highly recommend Feochan Rooms to anyone.
We stayed here for one night while we traveled Skye. The hotel was perfect for what we needed and the location was right in the square of Portree. Although they don’t have parking there is a long stay car park minutes walk from the hotel and it’s only £4 for 24hrs.
We decided to have dinner at the hotel and it was incredible!! The food, presentation and value for money was spot on. The staff were also extremely attentive and helpful.
Perfect location, on the south approach to Portree.
Easy walk into main town (about 1 mile).
Room was listed as 'small' but it was bigger than some hotels weve stayed in.
The staff were really friendly and we had breakfast exactly as we wanted - and as much as we could eat.
Parking was spacious and off street.
Skye is an awesome place (the sun was shining when we stayed) - would definitely recommend.
Great location in Portree. All the staff were really nice. They hold back tables in the restaurant for hotel guests so if the restaurant is booked online, just email the hotel, as I did, and they got us a reservation. Food was excellent as was the service. Rooms were spacious and cozy. Its an old hotel with all the charm but has upgraded bathrooms, etc. Good choice all around.
As a family of 4 the Bosville hotel in Portree was the perfect base to explore the north of the Isle of Skye. The location is great, allowing easy access to everything in Portree. Both the bar and the restaurant, ‘Dulse & Brose’, were very good, but recommend booking a table in advance.
Finally the staff were very friendly and helpful - thank you for a wonderful stay.
This hotel is in a good position overlooking the bay, with Portree shops, bars, restaurants and the harbor all in comfortable walking distance. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were perfectly cooked and filling. There is ample parking. The friendliness and attention to detail from our hosts was excellent
We loved our stay here! The food is excellent, the room was clean and spacious for our needs (2 adults), and the view from the hotel and front lawn is incredible. We'd highly recommend staying here if you're exploring Portree or the Isle of Skye!
It was such a great experience being on a farm for two days! The view was breathtaking. Easy in and out of Portree center. What a great way to be immersed in the beauty of the Isle of Skye.
This well appointed bed and breakfast is a treasure in the Isle of Skyes remote Trotternish peninsula. High quality bedding, towels, food and furnishings plus a knowledgeable local owner
Beautiful new hotel, price on the higher side vs what you can get in the island, like Edinbane Inn or Three Chinneys. It should have been 30% cheaper for it to be value for money.
Free breakfast so delicious and the service is very nice and staff all warm and helpful. Location is perfect! Would definitely choose this hotel again next time visiting Portree.
Fantastic views and location on Portree harbour. Whilst the hotel is extremely basic it was comfortable and clean. Good breakfast and generally a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Lovely hotel in the most envious of locations in Portree. Comfortable room looking over the harbour . The sun shone for the whole duration which made this trip even sweater 🤩
Great hotel 10mins walk from the centre of Portree. Comfortable and fairly modern room considering it is Skye. The room is quite small, but absolutely fine for a night or two.
