A lovely setting. A good size room with a large comfortable bed. Strong WiFi. A great shower. Friendly, helpful staff.

The reception area has very recently been done out which looked great. I was in one of the older rooms but you can tell it’s going to look great when finished.

The building looked lovely but the building work was hard to avoid seeing. Nice location, lovely landscaping and not near much other buildings close to Dumfries centre only around 6-10 minutes drive. Double room with king bed pretty comfy. Staff were respectful and reasonably helpful. Rooms nicely quiet no noise from other rooms. Great storage, big wardrobe, two bedside tables
Rivendell is a striking Arts and Crafts mansion, set just 15 minutes' walk from the town centre of Dumfries and its railway station. It features rooms with antique furnishings and free WiFi.

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view.
Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

I was only there for 2 days, for a Watercolour workshop, so unfortunately didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but it seems a very historic and interesting town

Incredible diversity of bird species in the Dumfries and Galloway region. 97 in 4 days recorded by our group. Gooseanders, Waxwings and Peregrine Falcons seen in the first half hour in the town centre
I recently reviewed a hotel in Portpatrick and did not rate it well. Everything that Portpatrick did wrong, Best Western Station Hotel did right. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional and accommodating. Despite the building itself being old it was well maintained and my room was very spacious and comfortable. I don't have a single complaint about my stay here.
Riverview had everything you could need, a true home from home and a lovely base to explore Scotland. Lovely to look out over the river and a brilliant park just outside for early morning dog walks. Great location for getting out doing some walks and good restaurants very close.
The welcome pack was a lovely touch especially treats for the doggo.
Thanks for a great stay
A beautiful country house hotel. The public areas of the hotel are lovely with a log fire in the lounge next to the reception area and with beautiful grounds. All on the edge of Mabie Forest, but only 10 mins drive from the centre of Dumfries.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and well kept but also full of character. Breakfast was delicious.
Location was excellent within easy walking distance of town centre. Owners are very friendly and welcoming and on both mornings we were served freshly cooked breakfast of our choice. Large car park to read of building offered secure off road parking. Wi-Fi free and good strength. If we are ever again in Dumfries we would make this our first choice for accommodation
The staff were over and above expectations, the hotel and facilities are just what you need after a long day of travelling. Myself and my friend were lucky enough to stay whilst there was a tribute act on and the price including a four course meal was excellent value for money. Would highly recommend this place where ever your destination in and around dumfries.
The hotel was very clean and indeed the room I would say was pristine. The bed was firm and comfortable. The greeting we received at check in I felt was a bit dry. The buffet breakfast although it was considerable was not the best although edible. The staff at breakfast were very friendly and attentive. I would certainly stay at the Caledonian again.
The property was very comfy, cozy and inviting. It was well maintained and had everything we needed. The village was beautiful and although you were close to the road. There was no noise or disturbance. It was the perfect location for us visiting family who live in Dumfries Town Centre. We had easily access to the coast and family in Lockerbie.
Loved the big bedrooms, bathrooms and fab shower. The hotel was immaculate and really well presented. Loved the art on the walls and the grounds for walking the dog. The staff were really lovely and very welcoming. Breakfast was good and served quickly. Coffee great. All in all a great place to stay.
The Hotel was in a quiet position on the outskirts of Dumfries. There was plenty of on-site parking. Breakfast selection was very good and cooked breakfasts were speedily delivered. All of the staff, especially Emma at breakfast, were very attentive, friendly and courteous.
Dumfries is in a beautiful area although the town itself is in a bit of a slump. Aberdour house was clean and in a good location with an accommodating host. As in keeping with it's setting, there were no amenities (except soap and towels) and the plumbing was "quirky".
The location was perfect for the town centre, a five minute walk away. It was also across the road from the churchyard containing Robert Burns' mausoleum and round the corner from his house. A ten minute walk took us to the Dumfries Museum and camera obscura.
Nice clean spacious room with a four poster bed delicious breakfast and very friendly staff very close to Dumfries and other parts of Dumfries and Galloway easily accessible public also very clean plenty of free parking
Breakfast was really good.
Plenty of car parking.
Just outside of Dumfries and easy to find.
It’s in an area which I’d expect to develop as the hotel matures s it’s presence!
Staff really good.
Everything was perfect. I travel for work all over Scotland, and this is easily one of the best I have stayed at. I do not often leave reviews but this place and it's owners are top drawer
