Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came.
Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came. We had lunch and dinner at L'aventura de john and the good food is always there. we had our own vehicle, so it was easy to move around even if the main road is temporarily in bad shape due to some work. The best with our 3 teenagers was to spend the day at the beach

Si quiet and so quaint , restaurants are so family oriented the food and the area surrounding el pelicano is like living in a fairy tale, loved it , I’m definitely going back again on my next trip to the Dominican Republic
Beautiful (almost wild) beaches, amazing plants/ nature, tranquility, no crowd, great food. You'll find plenty of attractions: El Limon waterfall, horse riding, Boca del Diablo, el Ricon beach and lagoon, boat trips, real Dominican households, Rio Frio, marble mines and much more. What I would do better next time - I would avoid the east part of DR (Punta Cana, Boca Chica, La Romana, Santo Domingo etc) and hit directly to Samana.

Las Galeras can be a base camp for visiting a lot a wonderful beaches located near the place, like Fronton and Playa Madama, the ones we visited. As we didn't have more time, we couldn't visit other beaches that exist between Las Galeras and Playa Rincon. I recommend going there with enough time to explore. Do not Miss Restaurant El Cabito, where Tomeu will be able to enchant you with wonderful conversation and better food!

Due to the COVID -19 virus majority of shops and bars remained closed. Although the Dominican Republic has opened up for tourism this area financially appears to have been hit hard economically. Having been in this area many times before it was a shame to see the the situation for the local population who rely heavily on the tourist industry. Our stay was short but thoroughly enjoyable. getting to Las Galeras is fairly straight forward though entail a long car journey from the Capital. The roads are mainly good though if you have not driven in the DR before then it can be a bit daunting if you hire a car. Rules of the road don't really exist to an extent so be careful. There are plenty of sites to see some fabulous beaches and Rios, Sea fishing, horse back riding ATV tours, Zip lines and many other outdoor activities are available. Wherever possible i would advise shopping around for the best deal, if not a Spanish speaker get to know a local and tap into them for information they are more than willing to help for the cost of a few peso's

This is what the Caribbean probably looked like 40 years ago! Amazing nature, cocoa plantations, not so easy to get to beaches, get an RAV4 or similar, this will spare you the aggravation of not being able to get down a muddy road to an off the charts beach!!! Pan de Coco available by the side of the road, for the uninitiated, thats a flat round bread made with coconut water, instead of regular water...Superb snack, breakfast whatever...Drive, explore, hike, get out and see the place, you will not be disappointed.
The room had 2 beds and 2 bathrooms and that was so nice and the room was big: main room with kitchen, 1 bed, table and 4 chairs, 1 bathroom then 2nd room: main bed, closet, main bathroom. The kitchen was complete of everything needed. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, they brought fresh fruit and a big tank of drinkable water to welcome us. Beds were comfortable, location is perfect, close either to playita than to the main playa in Las Galeras. Many restaurants all around.
The Jardin del Coco is a very local style hotel
We arrived by the local bus, and the hotel was an short, easy walk from where we were dropped off. Everything was ready when we arrived, so they showed us straight to our room. The garden and property and very pretty. The location is just a couple minute walk to the beach and restaurants. The hosts were very helpful and had great advice. They were able to arrange a nice tour and transportation for the day we left.
The hostess is amazing: thoughtful, understanding, and very friendly. I really felt like at home. The hospitality was just beyond words.
We had a light room with big windows and a lot of natural light. It's a spacious room so really comfortable even if you're staying with someone.
The vibe of the hotel is really chilled. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast, listen to relaxing musing, and converse with the hosts.
The property was run by a very friendly Argentinian couple who were welcoming and very helpful. The location was excellent, both near the beautiful La Playita and the Las Galeras town and beach. the apartment was very tastefully furnished with everything you needed, including drinking water, coffee…the private terrace was great and a lovely garden with small swimming pool.
We loved it! The place is so great. Rooms are big and you have your own big bathroom.
We also have a huge balcony which was amazing!
The garden looks awesome and there is a nice jacuzzi.
The owner is very nice!
Close to the hotel there is a beautiful beach.
We would love to stay here again!
Right next to a delightful beach - shared with expensive luxury hotel on one part!
Very peaceful. Very friendly owner.
Aircon and very clean.
Las Galeras is a great place as are the surrounding areas. Playa Rincon is a must.
We loved the location and loved the views from the room out across Las Galeras. The room was well located within walking distance of the town centre, restaurants and places to hire bikes, snorkels and everything else.
Super beautiful hotel and garden. The ocean views are stunning. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious.
Beach, supermarkets and restaurants are in walking distance
Amazing hotel in Las Galeras, comfy rooms and close to the beach. The owner is very friendly, helpful and has many great recommendations. As already mentioned by others: outstanding breakfast!
The pool, the breakfast with sea view.
Dominique was very nice and helped us to organise our holiday.
The beach is direct in front of the hotel. Restaurant and mini market 5 minutes walking.
From the hotel just outside you room the views to the sea and surrounding are espectacular, you can just sit and enjoy looking around while drinking something and smoking your preferred puro
Cozy, clean and full equipped apartment.
Great swimming pool and location... few minutes walk from Playita and Playa Las galeras.
We liked so much that extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights.
The proximity with the beach and the personal. Specially Kenny, he was amazing with me !! He’s one of the best I’ve ever met. He gave me lots of good advice on where to go in Las Galeras !
The apartment was very clean, peaceful, and comfortable, the pool was amazing, the beach called playita which is my favorite is just 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel.
Location was excellent. Amazing ocean views and quiet environment; all you need for a relaxing weekend. Close to the best beaches Las Galeras has to offer.
