It was an unforgettable experience walking through nature, seeing the rivers and waterfalls. The variety of birds, the tranquility of being surrounded by so many sounds, breathtaking sunsets. I truly enjoyed the whole experience and place. Will do it again, highly recommended.

Lovely place to see birds, swim in some waterfalls, have some good coffee and chocolate on farms, get some craft beer. Very hot though— stay hydrated and pack sunscreen. I would recommend this place and advise hiking around to enjoy the nature.

Loved Minca so much.
Loved Minca so much. The town feels very catered to tourists and it was hard to find a cheap, local restaurant with a menu del dia for example but there are lots of good western-ish options and the wildlife/surrounding area is so beautiful. Highly recommend the Cerro Kennedy hike (stay at El Ramo) too.

Minca is a fantastic place to visit to get a sense of the mountainous area of Colombia and its lush and alluring jungle with all the glory of its flora and fauna. Only a short drive from the Santa Marta airport, you find ourself in a little village that is a haven to hikers, motocross bikers, and bird watchers. There are many places to eat with a variety of cuisines and for the most part the food was good. Our favorite activity was birdwatching. We had fantastic outings booked through Jungle Joe. Our guides Tony Martin and Gustavo Viloria were both extremely professional and informed. We loved the La Vittoria Coffee Plantation tucked away in the jungle. Another favorite was Rio Elemento, a hotel/restaurant on the banks of the river with an awesome swing that carries you over the rushing waters.

It is very pretty and I appreciated the access to other types of food since we had been traveling the Colombia for a bit and had been exclusively eating traditional colombian food. You cannot speak about Minca without mentioning the bugs, they are terrible! the worse part is you don’t really see them or know when you are being bit. You just look down and your legs are covered in bites. Also there is a new age spirituality vibe that is strongly felt in the town.

It’s not a party town but it’s beautiful, scenic, has lovely waterfalls! Nice place to wind down after long hikes. Either take mototaxis everywhere is you don’t want to walk or hike! Ask for a helmet!
One if our favourite places to stay at in all of Colombia! We would gladly go back any time. If you don’t mind walking a bit up hill and through the forest to get there, you are rewarded with tranquility and peace. It’s a 20 minute walk from the centre of Minca on the way to Marinka waterfalls. You are surrounded by nature and Nore and Carlo are super lovely and attentive hosts. There is a small bridge crossing the river now. Having a flash light is essential in order to find your way around at night.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Basic amenities but good enough. The views from the property are very nice. The Hotel is very close to Minca town, just 5 min walking (uphill but very doable). The only inconvenience is that you can hear the traffic from the road down the hill. It is quite noisy, even at night. But I always travel with earplugs. ;) the breakfast is very basic but nice. The views from the restaurant are gorgeous! I will come back! PS: I recommend getting a full body massage!!
Loved the views and the sunsets. The food was delicious, fresh and varied. The daily fresh flowers were a wonderful touch. The cuisine used local ingredients and Colombian recipes. The wine selection was limited but excellent. The staff were attentive. The design of the buildings were sympathetic and thoughtfully crafted. Both Pilar and Dani were responsive, kind and knowledgeable. The trip to the waterfall with the coffee plantation was a good adventure - the mules and horses were well cared for.
I was in doubt when I found out how far from Minca this location is (from Minca bus terminal 45min by moto) but it was one of the best decisions and favorite stays in Colombia!
Staff was very kind (Doris and two girls on their workaway, thank you for everything!), I was lucky enough that on the 1th night I was the only one in the dorm (which btw offers amazing view over Sierra Nevada!), food was really good, place is quite,... so make sure you will come for more than one night :)
I would put La Casa Del Mono as a definitive must stay for Colombia! If your trip isn’t already including Minca, then make a detour and spent at least a couple of nights here.
Beautiful and modern cabin with an amazing location granting the best sunset views of the valley stretching all the way to Santa Marta. The host was fantastic and spoke perfectly English, we got tons of tips for the surrounding area that really helped us get the most out of the trip.
I absolutely loved everything. The rooms are just beautiful. Amazing eco-design, so it fits right in with the beautiful nature that Sol the Minca is located in. Most comfortable beds we’ve had in Colombia. Frederico and his family are very welcoming, passionate about their business and will help you with everything. The food is also amazing!! Would 100% recommend.
It’s a very small hostal, but because of that it’s much more sociable, as there’s one shared area and everyone hung out together. very mixed aged travellers which was super nice. The best equipped kitchen! Great location, at the edge of town but within walking distance. Located in the middle of nature. One of the best places I stayed in Colombia.
Mundo Nuevo is one of the best places to stay in Minca, in my opinion. It’s my favorite place to stay. It is absolutely gorgeous, surrounded by some of the best views you’ll find anywhere, and the service is so warm and high quality. The food is excellent, and they are accommodating of any dietary needs. The newly built pool is gorgeous.
Amazing hotel, great location with stunning views of the valley. We could have just stayed on the balcony all day enjoying the views and the beautiful birds. We were pleased to stay out of Minca which is too busy and not very relaxing. Worth the journey up the hill for the tranquility. Very comfortable room with good bed and nice design.
Beautifully luxurious domes and hotel property with a stunning view over the rolling green mountains all the way to the sea. You can see the sunset (clouds permitting) from the hot tub. A perfect, tranquil location and one of our favourite accommodations during our time in Colombia. Not cheap but worth it.
A beautiful ecolodge nestled in the hills of Minca. The family suite was spacious and comfortable. We loved hanging out on the balcony relaxing in the hammock and admiring the view. Breakfast was quite good. Frank and Naz were very friendly and attentive. The walk to Minca is 1km along a forest trail.
Amazing location in the center of Minca. The room was clean and the AC worked. The staff are kind. My toilet didn’t work and they sent someone to fix it - but it still didn’t work and then they allowed me to change rooms.
Its a beautiful location, on the edge of Minca. the breakfast is freshly made and incredibly delicious.
AC works great, which was necessary, since it was very warm and humid during my trip, but very comfortable inside.
Felt like a second home. Mario is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable hosts I’ve had in Colombia and in the world really. You won’t regret staying as Casa Del Pozo Azul while in Minca.
The hostel is located in a quiet area and the rooms have a nice balcony. The breakfast changes each day which is rare in Colombia. The airport shuttle the hotel can arrange is also great.
Very special stay, one of the best ones in Colombia. The vibe of the place, nature, early morning birds, our room with the view (double deluxe room), everything was exceptional.
