Unfortunately we were there on Monday to Wednesday when the town is very quiet and the famous market closed-only open on weekend. Also the art gallery was closed as they were preparing for another exhibition-would have been nice to have been forwarned to avoid going there.

Fremantle is a very walkable place.
Fremantle is a very walkable place. It's mostly flat and most things are within a 1 -2 km walk. We did not have a car and did not miss it. High Street is the place for cafes and shops. Bathers beach is great for restaurants and sunsets.
The pace in Fremantle is slow, which suited us. We had a wonderful 4 days here and would recommend Fremantle to anyone wanting to experience the friendliness of Western Australia and enjoy that small town feel.
Fremantle Markets is also brilliant.

Fremantle has a warm, nostalgic place in my heart but over the years it has become decidedly tatty. Yes, it has history to offer but the general atmosphere in the town is one of cafés, eateries and non-descript shops offering uninteresting souveniers.
The Fremantle town council is badly in need of a strategy to create a town that serves the broader community beyond a place to drink coffee any time in the week

Lots of cafes and restaurants, food was great.
Lots of cafes and restaurants, food was great. Markets were amazing and worth visiting. The beach was small in Fremantle but very clean. There is a great atmosphere and it is very safe to walk around with good transport links to Perth.
We needed a place to stop, park and sleep for the night out of Perth. Maand Up was well located in Fremantle, fairly priced (but all accommodation is quite pricey in the area) and offered parking. On enquiry, the off street parking was limited, but we were advised parking was easy in the street and for us it was. We were late to arrive and found the directions to our room, sent both by sms and email, were clear and easy to follow. However, the stairs up to the first floor were quite dark for taking our luggage up at night.
The Endeavour Room was a lovely big room with access to a verandah that overlooked the back garden, which was beautiful and cool on a summer afternoon in Fremantle. Just a beautiful way to cool down after a busy day. The room is beautifully furnished with antique reproductions. Even has a reproduction of Sir Joseph Banks' desks that was on the Endeavour. Very tastefully setup with all the amenities found in a normal 4-star hotel.
The best thing about this unit was the very close proximity to the Fremantle Markets which is the major reason I chose to stay there and there was parking provided on site as street parking is at a premium always. On the weekends Fremantle is a busy bustling vibrant precinct with loads of restaurants, cafes, bars to enjoy. The unit was light and airy spotlessly clean and well equipped with a tiny balcony.
I stayed here for my wedding, the room was so beautiful. The photographer said it was one of the best hotel rooms he’d seen in Perth. The staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much to ask. I was wondering how the noise from the bar would go but you can barely here a thing, I found the slight noise comforting. Wish I could have stayed another night!
Location was good and staff were efficient and very helpful to us. We arrived in Fremantle early and the hotel let us leave our suitcase until check in time while we walked around the town. We enjoyed the complimentary drinks and cheeseboard at the bar next door to the hotel.. that was a great touch and the breakfast at the hotel was adequate.
A quirky hotel in central Fremantle, full of charm and character, with lovely staff. Large bathroom with beautiful products available. The minibar was complimentary, and the free drinks from 5-6pm were appreciated. Large comfortable bed. Dinner at Emily Taylor next door was exceptional - fresh ingredients, very nice meal and well priced.
Esplanade hotel definitely did not disappoint, from its striking facade to the comfy modern rooms. The reception and concierge service were friendly and always very helpful. It is conveniently located right in the middle of Fremantle which was extremely helpful as we simply walked to the market, restaurants, cafes and malls around.
the location was great! i was able to do all my sightseeing via walking (ie to the ferry terminal to visit rottnest, around town, visit fremantle market and visit the prison), the hostel was quite clean and very chill. couldn't join the hostel activities but saw on the calendar that activities were quite regular!
Central location, beautiful accommodation;everything was within walking distance. Fremantle Markets, IGA, wine bars, pubs, movies, etc. Accommodation was awesome. Two taps for water and sparkling water in the kitchen. Also next door to Emily Taylor's which I recommend.
Excellent location to most places you are likely to visit in Fremantle. Apt is stocked with all that one made need for a short stay. Cute, artsy decor. Fairly quiet, great shower head, quiet air con, comfy bed and pillows.
Would stay again when next in Fremantle.
Great spot on high street in the heritage area of town. Lovely balcony overlooking the street and heritage buildings. Easy access in an out of the building into the thick of things in Fremantle and good carparking next door. Close to all my favorite restaurants.
I always stay at the gallery hotel in bibra lake when i fly back to perth from work and the un expected upgrade to the serviced apartment in fremantle was absolutely mind blowing. 10/10 thank you.
i will continue to stay in your rooms when im in perth
It is a little art gellary and we really enjoyed our one day stay there touch the feel of the old fremantle. everywhere is a photo spot. definately recommended anyone who is going to fremantle to exprience this little hotel.
The location is fantastic, the building is secure. The facilities were excellent, very clean and comfortable. We stayed three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Walking distance to Fremantle main attractions.
The room was very clean. The hotel was very close to restaurants, bars and markets in Fremantle. Some basic items in the kitchen to eat basic food - kettle, bowls, microwave but no toaster.
The friendliest staff in the city of Perth. From the stylish bar with a river view to the superbly decorated hotel reception every encounter was above 5 star. Thank you kindly Tradewinds.
