Very new owners with lovely friendly energetic style. Newly opened and refurbishing as they go. Downstairs done and looking great. Upstairs awaiting a bit of an upgrade but the bed and bedding were excellent, the pressure in the shower and hot water excellent, the room was roomy and a really lovely temperature - snug but airy. Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff, nice buzz in the bar in the evening.
Built around the famous South Zeal Menhir Standing Stone, this 12th-century manor house is set in its own 4-acre monastery gardens in a pretty Devonshire village.

Our room was superb from the divine decor to the classy finishing touches in the bathroom!!!! We just adored our room. We had a lovely dinner in the Brasserie on 3 evenings and whilst the food was good, would like to make special mention of the waitstaff, especially Corey who became our favourite waiter. So professional but in a casual way and always made sure we had everything we needed and to our liking.
The lounge areas, the views, the decor, the helpful staff, everything about Bovey Castle is just so so special!

I loved this little village, enough to keep me interested.

Ate at both The Three Crowns and Chagford Inn, both of which were excellent.

Such a pretty market town, Lots of independent shop and cafes. Plenty of scenic walks. Chagford has an outdoor fresh water swimming pool set in very scenic surroundings. Breath taking views of the surrounding countryside. The town itself is bursting to the seams with very old buildings and cottages (some thatched) and is steeped in history.
The Globe Inn is definitely eclectic and has its own style - but even though the decor was not to my taste the place was immaculate, the staff were really lovely, we had one of the best roasts we've ever had and the breakfast was lovely. Lots of spare pillows, beautiful little village with some really sweet local attractions like Castle Drogo and if you have young children the Miniature pony centre is just down the road and a really lovely day out.
The room we stayed in was fabulous. The layout was good as was the decor. The room had a coffee pod machine in, with pods and coffee bags too, along with a range of other hot drinks. There was also a fan and fascinating wall art that had photos of the town from yesteryear. Good choice of food for dinner from the restaurant as well as breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
Welcoming couple who run it. It was quiet, being in an annex. The items in the room, such as bottled water, were of high quality. Room only, but Chagford is an expensive area so not too bad value, and they kindly left ceral and fruit in the entrance area. The best thing about it was the quality of the food in the pub itself, which was phenomenal.
A stunning homely stay in beautiful surroundings. Chagford is idyllic and has superb and interesting shops. We loved our stay. We felt so very welcomed by our host and within the village of Chagford. A very arty, relaxed, friendly and up-market feel with excellent everyday shops mixed in with amazing artisan shops. Something for everyone.
Wrenscott is a lovely little cottage, the garden is totally enclosed so safe for your dog, also a haven of tranquility, chagford is a charming small town with four pub/hotels all providing excellent food, there is also a fantastic open air swimming pool on the edge of town, so don't forget your swimming gear 😀
Room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Did struggle with the very old staircase! BUT it is a very old building that I know well having lived in Chagford so was at least prepared for that difficulty. Dinner was lovely, breakfast good.
Wonderful village location. Friendly, traditional pub-hotel. Lovely room with a very comfy bed and a good, firm mattress. Dog-friendly with a good supply of dog bowls and mats. Great evening meal and breakfast. Good wi-fi too.
Accommodations were quite comfortable. Location with view of the churchyard was lovely. We especially appreciated the shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Meals—breakfast, dinner—we’re excellent.
