Great set-up, great hosts, facilities great for families (we got an en-suite room and I'm glad we did that).
Great free coffee and well-equipped kitchen! Also appreciated the fridge in the room.
The owners mum was around most days and she was so helpful (we stayed about 6 days).
Finally - we saw the northern lights too!

We were given a room on the third floor, thankfully there was a lift. The room was spacious, bed was comfy.
Breakfast was varied and plenty of it.

There wasn't a single thing wrong. From the place, to the location, the host, avaliable conveniences while being isolated to relax. The pool outside brings everything to an 11. Enjoying the warmth with the cold outside while gazing at the stars, just what the doctor ordered.

Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse.
Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse. We updated our arrival time, but the hotel did not give a reply. During check in, we showed our reservation letter to a elder staff, but she said no:( and was not friendly. They did also not inform us gate will be closed and the room key can't open the gate!. Because of puncture, we came back to the hotel around 1 o'clock in the morning and the gate was closed. We have to call the staff. Fortunately, that elder staff came to open the gate, but she seemed unhappy and blamed us when we check out.LMH92Denmark - 10Scored 10

It’s perfect for a family trip around Iceland. We stay here for five nights. While we were here we rested from our trip around the South. It feels like a home or a good hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were super clean, two kitchens available for cooking, WiFi is fast and the hotpots looked nice — we arrived too late to give it a try. This makes the price-quality-ratio pretty good for a night. In comparison to many Icelandic guest houses where you can easily feel ripped or , this is a nice positive surprise. They left us a gift of a pair of horse shoes as a keepsake. It is outside of any cities and turned out to be a great place to watch the northern lights. They provide a small breakfast of yogurt, fruit and juice which was sufficient for some of us. There is a town about 15 minutes away that has a hotel restaurant and a gas station with a restaurant.

Very big apt., comfortable beds, good shower, everything clean. Its the only apt, so it was very quiet. Lovely dog. Beautiful waterfall Reykjafall and Fosslaug (hot spring) 25 min walk or 4 min by car (with 10 min walk). We were almost alone there. Would have loved to stay longer!
